The Business Services staff at CNY Works is committed to helping employers to recruit, hire, train and retain qualified workers. The staff offers a wide range of services to area employers at no charge. Services include on-site recruiting, listing of job openings, human resource assistance, labor market information, labor law interpretation, safety and health consultations, apprentice programs, affirmative action/EEO Guidance, and incentive programs and tax credit information.
Job Posting Options
Employers can post job openings in Onondaga County through our Centralized Job Bank in Utica on-line at www.workforcenewyork.org/cmvjob or by requesting a Fast Fax Job Order form by calling 315-793-2267. You will tap directly into our labor matching capabilities, which link the job requirements to the special skills and abilities of qualified applicants. It's fast, uncomplicated and of no charge to you. We can search thousands of records in seconds to refer candidates to you. All job matching and referral services for your Onondaga County job order will then be done by the staff of CNY Works in Syracuse.

Customized Job Fairs/Recruiting
The NY State Department of Labor regularly holds job fairs and recruiting actions for employers in selected areas. You can schedule specialized recruitments that target hard-to-fill positions with local and national scope through our local representatives. You can arrange recruitments to find that special skill or to fill multiple needs as well. Employers with seasonal time constraints can count on the Labor Department to help hire employees promptly.
Job Bank/ Talent Bank
You can list your job openings with the NY State Labor Department online. They will appear promptly at One-Stop offices across the state. We advertise positions at all levels from entry to executive. Our computerized matching system provides you with qualified applicants who have skills, education and experience. You also will have the capability to browse hundreds of thousands of resumes through the New York State Job Bank. The web site address is: www.labor.state.ny.us or employers can call 1-800-HIRE-992.

Testing
The NY State Department of Labor can help you assure that the workers you interview and hire have been pre-evaluated for the competence you need. Our Testing Unit will administer standardized tests that measure aptitude, clerical skills and literacy.
Incentive Programs
Get tax credits and/or wage subsidies for hiring targeted job seekers or expanding in development zones. There are State and Federal incentives to employers to hire job seekers from ten target groups. Our Business Services Representatives can help you understand government programs available to underwrite workforce expansion and training.
Human Resources Assistance
The NY State Department of Labor Human Resources Consultants are available to assist employers with personnel problems and questions at no cost. They deal with common personnel issues, and also can help develop handbooks, policies and practices, orientation procedures and job titles.

You can communicate ideas and concerns with the State Department of labor. Join one of the 54 Job Service Employer Committees (JSECs) around the State to collaborate with the Labor Department of business needs. JSECs work closely with DOL offices to monitor and improve services to employers.
