Pest Control Technician Job Description

Job Title: Pest Control Technician

Summary: Completes a pest control route each day and provides customers with the best pest control and eradication services in the industry by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

● Follows a daily route schedule and ensures timely arrivals at each stop.

● Discusses the scope of services provided with the customer to include preventative measures, procedures, sanitation and structural corrections.

● Identifies customer’s insect and rodent problems and determines corrective steps as required.

● Schedules work on assigned route, maintains current account service instructions and assists in contacting customers when appropriate.

● Attains levels of productivity based on training experience and types of accounts serviced. Provides pest control services by placing pest control materials in designated locations, conducting inspections and resolving customer issues.

● Evaluates pest control situations by inspecting conditions/new infestations; determining causes and analyzing treatments, prevention/exclusion options.

● Provides corrective repairs to customer property if needed after conclusion of pest/termite services.

● Places pest control materials in designated interior/exterior areas by determining appropriate bait (includes gels, dust, granules and liquids).

● Completes and turns in daily production reports, invoices, and all monies collected.

● Complies with safety procedures through use of personal protective equipment and notification to customers of pesticide chemicals.

● Ensures timely and proper completion of customer and administrative reports.

● Maintains equipment and company vehicle in a safe and orderly manner at all times.

Education/Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates and Licenses:State Applicator's LicenseValid Driver's LicenseTechnicians must pass required DEC exam and coursework within a 6 month time frame from the date of hired and keep a clean driving record.

RESPONSIBILITIES:• Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures. • Actively participate in EHS, training, safety observations, hazard identification, and safety committees. • Foster, develop, and implement Continuous Improvement (CI) activities through all facets of the business.• Ensure a proactive approach to product quality, GMP’s, and quality of workmanship. • Perform set-up, operate, optimize, and troubleshoot Label equipment to manufacture product according to quality and productivity requirements. • Preparation, testing, and application of adhesives, inks, releases, or other chemistry to support operations. • Ensures that equipment runs in accordance with operational standards, goals, and expectations. • Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed. • Ensure the correct raw materials are being processed. • Logs and posts production information into the computer and/or required production logs. • Provide communication daily with other departments including planning, maintenance, leadership, HR, and other coworkers. • Maintain 6S housekeeping standards of work zones and walkways. • Support packing and material movement tasks as needed.• Directly supports training and cross training of other coworkers.• Support development and roll out of Standard Work including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), One Point Lessons, (OPL), and Training Documentation • Perform other duties/tasks as assigned. • Ensure an environment that promotes effective communications, positive coworker collaboration, and teamwork.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:• Two or more years printing/coating/laminating experience preferred. • Good mechanical ability. • Ability to use rulers, gauges, calipers, and other testing equipment. • Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to working with moving equipment.• Effective communications and interpersonal skills to work as a team member. • Ability to work independently and make good decisions without constant supervision. • Well-developed work habits to ensure smooth machine operation and minimal downtime. • Proficiency with computers; ability to learn and use additional programs. • Ability to distinguish differences between finished product compared to product specifications. • Ability to identify maintenance needs and ensure that all required preventive maintenance is performed. • Ability to lift products up to 50 lbs. and some over that amount. • Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, extend, lean, and maneuver around equipment at varying heights. • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
